Vegetarian

Living as a vegetarian does not need to be boring and bland. Any meatless meal can be just as flavorful and nutritious as its carnivorous counterparts. Playing with new ingredients, being liberal with spices and utilizing a variety of cooking methods can take a vegetarian plate to a new plateau.

Flavorful Foods
Meat may be removed from the diet due to health concerns or for moral reasons. Meatless Mondays have become a mainstay in many households as a money saving technique. Regardless of the reason for eating meatless meals, there are plenty of replacement foods that are just as tasty and chocked full of protein.
Tofu is a favorite among vegetarians due to its versatility and high amount of protein. Tofu is available in consistencies ranging from soft to extra firm, which allows the home chef to mirror the texture of meat in a specific dish. Mushrooms can provide an added amount of protein while also absorbing any flavor the chef desires.

Sweet and Savory Spices
The trick to having the most delicious dishes is the seasoning. Vegetarians can elevate the wow factor of meals by using interesting spices. Rosemary is delicious on roasted vegetables. Nutmeg is a fantastic addition to cheesy or cream-based dishes. Even an old standard, like cinnamon, can make a savory dish more satisfying.
Vegetarian chefs can master their meals by working with quality ingredients such as unique spices. Cooking with freshly cracked pepper and milled salt can make a big difference in taste. This is also true of oils. Chefs should try working with quality olive oil, coconut oil or even truffle oil in their favorite recipes.
