One of my husband’s favorite meals is simple shiitake mushroom chicken ramen, and I do not doubt that your loved ones would feel the same way if you made it for them. Shiitake mushrooms have been integral to Japanese and Asian cuisine for decades.
Although shiitake has long been a part of ramen, it has become popular in other Asian dishes. The name “shii mushroom” has become commonplace in English-speaking countries to describe a type of mushroom that adds a savory, earthy, umami taste to food. In ramen restaurants worldwide, you can find the mushroom in both classic and creative takes on the dish. Common accompaniments include kikurage and enoki mushrooms. In addition to its culinary uses, shiitake has gained notoriety as a medical herb for relieving symptoms of everything from the common cold to gout and diabetes.
The meal’s many positive health effects will make your household as robust as a horse. Mushrooms are rich in the B vitamins riboflavin, folate, and thiamine, which the body uses to break down amino acids, extract energy from carbs and fats, and transport oxygen and fuel to all of its cells. Chicken breasts include 54g of protein and 284 calories, so you can eat more without gaining weight. My family’s immune systems are kept in check by the vitamin E and magnesium found in carrots and spinach. This food helps keep my family healthy by warding off disease-causing microorganisms.
