minutesAs a cooking enthusiast, nothing brings me more joy than preparing wholesome and healthy meals for my family.
Today, I want to share with you a recipe that has become a fan favorite in our household – the Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich.
But with a unique twist, all thanks to the delightful addition of Tzatziki Greek sauce. The Tzatziki sauce is what makes this sandwich extraordinary.
Coming directly from Greece, Tzatziki is a creamy sauce made from yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and herbs. Thanks to the refreshing tang that goes perfectly with the softness of a sandwich, creating a taste and texture that will make you come for more.
But it’s not just the taste that makes this sauce special. Tzatziki is known for its health benefits too.
The yogurt base gives it a high protein content, which plays a major role in muscle growth and recovery.
Plus, the cucumbers add a good dose of hydration and vitamins. So, while your taste buds are enjoying the unique flavor, your body is soaking up all the good stuff!
Now, let’s talk about the sandwich itself – the beauty of a sandwich lies in its versatility. You can fill it with lean meats for protein, fresh vegetables for vitamins, or cheese for calcium. You can try different things to make the recipe yours.
And when you are adding the Tzatziki sauce, you’re not just adding flavor but also an extra layer of nutrition. A sandwich with Tzatziki sauce isn’t just a meal – it’s a delicious health boost served between slices of bread!
Preparing this dish takes around an hour, which is surprisingly a short time to make such a delicacy. And trust me, the result is worth every minute spent. The cooking time is a mere 15 minutes, making it perfect for those days when you need a quick yet nutritious meal.
Now, a little history about this dish. While the sandwich is a staple in American cuisine, the addition of Tzatziki sauce adds a touch of Greek tradition, creating a beautiful fusion of cultures. It’s like a little historical journey directly from the comfort of your own kitchen.
In addition to all that I’ve only used ingredients that are easy to find and you might already have your kitchen. You can try adding your own twist but just make sure to be generous with the Tzatziki sauce.
It is a simple recipe that not only is delicious but also adds a touch of culture to your life.
Even if you are just a beginner, I hardly believe you will have any issues making this sandwich. Just follow the instructions and gather all the ingredients I have mentioned below and be ready to surprise your family with a delicious treat.
There is no reason to give this recipe a try!
So, the next time you’re looking to whip up a meal that’s healthy, delicious, and a tad bit exotic, give the Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich a try. Trust me – your family will be asking for seconds!

Ingredients
2 sandwich or burger buns
1 chicken breast
Bunch of chopped fresh dill
Mint leaves
Lettuce
Juice of 1 lemon
3 tbsp olive oil
1 small cucumber
250 g (9 oz) Greek yogurt
Half of red onion chopped
7 cloves minced garlic
Half tsp ground black pepper
tsp oregano
tsp salt
Directions
- Tzatziki sauce
- Grate the cucumber on a fine grater. Squeeze out excess water.
- In a deep bowl, add Greek yogurt, dill, finely chopped mint leaves, remaining garlic, and lemon juice.
- Mix everything well and put it in a container. Close the lid so the sauce doesn’t dry out.
- Chicken
- Cut the chicken breast lengthwise into 1 cm (0.4 inch) thick strips. Put the chicken in a deep plate and add 1/2 of the garlic, most of the lemon juice (keep 1 tbsp for later), spices and salt. Leave the meat to marinate for an hour.
- Remove chicken from marinade and pat dry with paper towels.
- Saute chicken in olive oil on both sides until golden brown.
- Spread tzatziki sauce on both sides of the buns. Top with onion, then chicken and lettuce. Cover with the top of the bun and enjoy!
