Sizzling and Satisfying: Barbecue Burger Recipe
Hamburgers have a rich, meaty and controversial history. Hamburg, Germany, is a legendary location believed by many to have inspired the hamburger. Hamburg’s famous round steaks made their way to America via German immigrants, who than had the idea of placing ground beef between two buns. By the mid-1800s, hamburgers were fully formed and on the plates of industrial workers who needed a quick lunch.

There are some disputes over which restaurant or cook was the first to create the hamburger. Nobody knows for sure, but local myths are numerous throughout different parts of America. What burger enthusiasts do know is that White Castle, the first official fast food hamburger joint, was opened in 1921. Once this happened, the hamburger’s popularity soared.
Hamburgers have evolved over the years, but they will always be America’s favorite sandwiches. From juicy beef patties to flavorful sauces of every kind, this sandwich’s ingredients are varied and delicious. Some people like to make veggie burgers, and others opt for patties made with turkey or fish. The hamburger has been a staple food of American tradition for so long that there are thousands of ways to make it, including the following recipe.
Barbecue burgers are great for family cookouts. They can be eaten alongside french fries, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, or any other side dish you can think of. This barbecue burger recipe is easy, all-American and guaranteed to be a crowd favorite at any dinner table.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2 lbs) of ground beef

  • 1 egg

  • 2/3 cup of plain breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 cup of Jack Daniels barbecue sauce (or different sauce of your choice)

  • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic

  • 1 tablespoon of minced onion

  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder

  • 2 hamburger buns

Directions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the egg, breadcrumbs, minced garlic and onion, ground beef and barbecue sauce with your hands. Make sure that the resulting mixture can combine in a sizable ball; if it cannot, add more breadcrumbs or sauce until you can easily make a large ball out of the mixture.
  • Take off approximately a 3/4 cup of the mixture, rolling it into a ball and then flattening it into a patty. Keep in mind that there are 4 to 5 patties for each pound.
  • Begin heating your outdoor grill. Grill the patties on their sides for approximately 10 minutes. Flip the patties once the meat has been browned on their undersides. Use a brush or spoon to cover the cooked sides of your patties with barbecue sauce. Continue cooking until the other sides of the patties are also browned. Flip again, covering the other sides with barbecue sauce as well. Flip once more before taking the patties out of the grill.
  • Serve on your favorite hamburger buns with whatever toppings you like. Onion rings add a nice texture and flavor to barbecue burgers.
